If you’re looking to capture the cozy essence of fall season, this apple brown sugar syrup is a simple, versatile recipe you can whip up in under 20 minutes.

So in Englad, it’s not quite fall yet.. at least not for another few weeks but I couldn’t wait to try making this apple brown sugar syrup. It blends the sweetness of brown sugar with the tart freshness of apple, creating a rich, caramel-like syrup that works beautifully in coffee, cocktails, pancakes, oatmeal, or drizzled over ice cream.
This apple syrup recipe works because it’s easy and quick to make with a minimal prep using a saucepan. It’s great for hot or ice cold drinks and the molasses notes from the brown sugar pair perfectly well with the natural flavors of apple.
Any type of apple will work, but some apples have more flavors than others. I used granny smith apples in this recipe because it adds a slight tart flavor that cuts through the sweetness from the brow sugar. This gives it a more balanced flavor overall.
So, this syrup recipe uses only 3 basic ingredients:
- fresh green apple juice or any unsweetened apple juice
- light or dark brown sugar
- water
- a dash cinnamon powder

How to make apple brown sugar syrup
- In a medium saucepan, add the apple juice and brown sugar.
- Place over medium heat and stir until the sugar fully dissolves.
- If using cinnamon, stir it in now.
- Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 8 – 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice if using.
